The national and internationally-recognized faculty with the Categorical Internal Medicine Residency Program at Memorial Hospital and The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University emphasize evidence-based medicine to train individuals who can address the multi-factorial problems of patients who are hospitalized and in an ambulatory setting.

Training comes through rotations, electives, didactic presentations, and mentorship opportunities with the clinical faculty, and active participation of the program director. In addition, Memorial’s affiliation with the Care New England Health System exposes residents to an integrated network that includes providers of primary care, women’s health, behavioral health, surgical care, and cancer treatment.

Successful graduates of internal medicine residency programs may train in subspecialties or as hospitalist physicians. The Internal Medicine Residency Program supports both career paths by exposing residents to a variety of subspecialty electives and helping with the application process.

The results are undeniable – for the past seven years, 100 percent of the program’s graduates passed the American Board of Internal Medicine boards certifying them as physicians.
