Welcome to the website for the Internal Medicine Residency Program of Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island (MHRI). We are proud of our longstanding success in placing our graduates in high quality fellowship programs and our 100 percent boards pass rate for the past seven years. Please review our curriculum to see if our residency structure meets your career goals.
Health care is undergoing tremendous change and this is an exciting time to enter a training program. We must focus on the health and well-being of the diverse communities we serve. Residents must be knowledgeable about addressing population-level goals as well as the outcomes of the individual patients we serve. The academic environment at MHRI is a rich and diverse one that offers patient-centered care in a compassionate manner. The academic faculty is dedicated to clinical exposure and providing an environment of scholarly development. We foster personal growth of our physician trainees in a warm and close-knit environment.
Our three-year categorical program offers direct patient care responsibility under close faculty supervision with the goals of developing our residents' medical knowledge, clinical skills and judgment, and interpersonal and communication skills. Resident-physicians are assigned a faculty coach during internship to provide mentorship and guidance throughout their three year tenure. The continuity inherent in this relationship provides for a rich and personal learning experience. We have developed a thoughtful milestones evaluation process that emphasizes independence to prepare our graduates for their role as leaders in a challenging health care environment.
We welcome your interest in our program and look forward to hearing from you.
