The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) International recently awarded a three-year accreditation to the Center for Rehabilitation at Memorial Hospital, a Care New England hospital.
The announcement came after an intense two-day survey of the program in March. CARF accredited Memorial’s inpatient adult rehabilitation programs as well as its inpatient stroke specialty program.
“We are very pleased that the CARF surveyors recognized the level of care and service the staff in the Center for Rehabilitation offers to our patients every day,” says David Kobasa, MSPT, executive director of Care New England Rehabilitation Services, which includes inpatient and outpatient therapy programs at both Memorial and Kent hospitals.
Kobasa and his team have 90 days to address recommendations that the survey team makes in its report. These include: ten recommendations that focus mostly around providing more education and follow up with patients to enhance their healthcare knowledge and well being, promote prolonged health wellness – further analyze their processes and performance/outcomes in an effort to improve care to the persons served and share more information, outcomes and results with shareholders, staff and patients.
