Dr. Viren D’Sa Earns $6.2 Million to Participate in National Echo Study
Two Care New England hospitals – Memorial Hospital and Women & Infants Hospital – are among 35 pediatric cohorts who will together enroll more than 50,000 children to study the early environmental origins of health outcomes. The initial award to Memorial is a two-year grant of $6.2 million, and $4.9 million over two years to Women & Infants. Pending successful completion of this “feasibility phase,” an additional five years of funding is expected to be available. Details

Memorial Begins Low-Dose Chest CT Screening for Lung Cancer
Memorial Hospital has begun offering low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) scans of the chest which can detect even very small cancerous nodules in the lung. “Screening high-risk patients with low-dose CT scans is especially effective for diagnosing lung cancer at its earliest, most treatable stage,” explains David W. Memorial Hospital Will be Open on January 28, 2015

Thanks to the outstanding efforts of our staff, Memorial Hospital will be open on Wednesday, January 28, for a normal business day. All elective procedures and appointments with physicians in our clinics at sites at the hospital and in Pawtucket and Central Falls will go on as scheduled. Memorial's Primary Care Center of Plainville in Plainville, MA, will begin seeing patients at 11 a.m.

All staff are expected to report to duty for their scheduled hours. Employee parking lots at 555 Prospect St., will be open and shuttle service operating tomorrow. Plainville staff are to report at 9:30 a.m.   Read more
