As a primary care physician, Dr. Diaz’s clinical work and research focuses on disparities in the delivery of health care, particularly assessing and addressing cultural and linguistic barriers to cancer screening among Latinos. Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Diaz has engaged in research funded by the National Institutes of Health and developed and pilot-tested a self-administered patient survey designed to measure differences in awareness, knowledge and judgments in colon cancer screening among English- and Spanish-speaking primary care patients. He is also developing a culturally- and linguistically-appropriate wide-based intervention to increase CRC screening among Spanish-speaking Latinos.
