Coming to the Center

Your physician will determine when you may be ready to begin rehabilitation therapy. You will be participating in at least three hours of therapy for at least five days a week, so it is important that you are medically stable in order to benefit most from your therapy. Our liaison nurse will work with your physician to evaluate your needs, coordinate with your insurance carrier, and help transition your care.

If your primary care physician is on staff at Memorial Hospital, he or she would have the opportunity to follow you medically. Otherwise, you would be assigned a board certified physician.

You do not need to purchase special clothing prior to your admission However, it is important that you have your own clothes available the first day since it is needed for your evaluation. Please label all clothes, including underwear. Loose-fitting pants and tops are best for men and women. Avoid small buttons, turtlenecks, pantyhose, corsets and tube socks. Comfortable, skid-proof, low-heeled shoes or sneakers are recommended. Velcro sneakers are helpful. Avoid clogs, heels, sandals and flip flops. Care at Home: To ensure your safety at home, before you are discharged, our staff will evaluate your home surroundings and any changes or adaptive equipment that you may need. To extend the circle of care, following discharge, outpatient and home care services through Memorial Hospital are available to serve you.
