
Irene A. Schmitt has recently become a member of the Board of Trustees of Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island.
A Cumberland resident, Mrs. Schmitt is currently the Founder and Managing Partner of The Baltic Group, LLC, located in Cumberland. The Baltic Group, LLC is a multi-faceted real estate acquisition, development and management company. Mrs. Schmitt was the former President and Chief Operating Officer of MetroWest Bank, in Framingham, MA and prior to that the Vice President of Commercial Lending for Colonial Bank in Cranston. Her background encompasses more than 25 years of financial, lending, management and commercial real estate experience.
Mrs. Schmitt’s community involvement includes: participating in Habitat for Humanity – Women Build in Providence, RI; being the Founder of MetroWest ESL Fund (an annual fund created to provide classes teaching English as a second language); and being a guest lecturer on the topic of women leadership for Babson College, Bentley University and Northeastern University. She is also a Trustee and Vice Chairperson of Mercymount Country Day School and Co-Founder and Program Director at St. Joan of Arc CAL Basketball, both in Cumberland.
Mrs. Schmitt earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Hartwick College, Oneonta, NY.
