Richard Corrigan - Some may call it the luck of the Irish. For Pawtucket resident and stroke survivor Richard Corrigan, St. Patricks Day will make a new milestone.
Proud of his Irish heritage, on St. Patrick's Day 2010, the 40-year owner of Corrigan Painting was hanging the Irish flag at Pawtucket City Hall when he suddenly collapsed on the stairs. His friends took him to a Providence hospital where he was treated for dehydration and released. Alone at home that afternoon he fell to the floor, his right side paralyzed. He laid there for six hours, unable to reach the phone, until friends arrived to pick him up for an evening celebration. He was taken by rescue to a Providence Hospital's rehabilitation program. "When I got here, I couldn't move my right side." Richard recalled. It took three people to get me up."
