Cardiovascular Disease
memorial_cardiovascular_center4.jpg The Memorial Hospital Cardiovascular Center specialty physicians and cardiologists provide both in-patient and out-patient cardiovascular care.  Our collaborative cardiovascular team works together to provide the highest quality care in a personalized and seamless manner. Areas of cardiovascular medical expertise and clinical excellence offered through the Memorial Hospital Cardiovascular Center are:

Comprehensive Cardiology Consult Service
  • Cardiovascular preventative health
  • Analyzing and treating cardiac health risks
  • In-patient and out-patient services
  • Critical Care Inpatient Unit

Anticoagulation
  • Treatment to prevent blood clots
  • Expert monitoring and medication instruction and guidance
  • Counseling during medical procedures, illness and travel

Cardiac Arrhythmias
  • Diagnosis and management of the change in the pace or pattern of your heart beat
  • Pacemakers and implantable cardiac defibrillators (ICDs)
  • Atrial fibrillation (afib) – chaotic electrical signals in the arteries of the heart
  • Ventricular tachycardias (fast rhythms)
  • Bradycardias (slow rhythms)

Cardiac Valve Disease
  • Stenosis (narrowing) or insufficiency (leakage) of a valve, mitral valve.
  • Endocarditis (infection of one or more of the heart valves)
  • Congenital valvular abnormalities (valve abnormalities you are born with)

Cardiomyopathies
  • Diagnosis and management of heart muscle problems
  • Congestive heart failure (CHF) – a condition where the heart can’t pump enough blood to the rest of the body

Cardiac Rehabilitation
  • Optimized recovery following a cardiac event, procedure or surgery
  • Patient education and life style coaching
  • Customized and monitored exercise sessions

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)

  • Diagnosis and management of the narrowing or blockages of the coronary arteries which may cause angina (chest, jaw or arm pain) or myocardial infarction (a “heart attack” which may cause damage to heart muscle and even death)

Hyperlipidemia
  • Cholesterol and lipid panel assessment and management

Hypertension
  • High blood pressure diagnosis and management

Peripheral Vascular Disease

  • Diagnosis and management of blood vessels outside the heart

The heart is a muscle. It has four chambers that pump blood.  The upper two chambers are called the "atria" and the lower two chambers are called the "ventricles".
The heart is really two pumps that work together to move blood through the body.
