Combining technology with high touch is the hallmark of care at The Birthing Center at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. Each of our private Labor/Delivery/Recovery (LDR) rooms has the necessary equipment to provide close monitoring during the labor and birth process. Our laboring moms can utilize either showers or a spacious labor tub for hydrotherapy during labor. Our Birthing Center also provides birth balls, music therapy, aromatherapy, and a labor support supply box for each LDR so that partners, nurses, and doulas have supplies and equipment on hand to provide for your birth, your way.
Embracing the concept that all babies belong skin-to-skin with their moms immediately after birth, we also offer “Gentle Cesarean Birth”– a technique pioneered at our Birthing Center to promote bonding and family-centered care immediately after your baby’s birth.
After delivery, our postpartum rooms provide spacious accommodations for new families to become acquainted, including beds and sleeper chairs for partners to stay overnight.
Babies born at The Birthing Center at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island room-in with their moms; however, should your baby require closer monitoring, our Newborn Nursery has both the technology and skilled nursing/physician staff to oversee newborns requiring an advanced level of care.
Begin planning for your birth, your way, by taking a personal tour. Once you visit, we hope you will consider adding your “new addition” to one of the leaves on our “Tree of Life” mural that welcomes all families and friends to The Birthing Center at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island.
