Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island appointed Joseph A. Diaz, MD, MPH, FACP, as its Interim Physician-in-Chief of Medicine.

A Providence resident, Dr. Diaz earned both his Medical Degree and Master of Public Health degree at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. He completed his General Internal Medicine residency and fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital. Dr. Diaz is an Associate Professor of Medicine at the Alpert Medical School.

Dr. Diaz is board certified in internal medicine. He is a lead faculty member in the Alpert Medical School Academy System, co-director of the Department of Medicine Dominican Republic Exchange Program; and on the curriculum committee of Internal Medicine Residency Program; the Internal Medicine Morbidity and Mortality Committee and the Residency Credentials and Review Committee. Dr. Diaz is a fellow of the American College of Physicians and member of the American Society of Preventive Oncology and Society of General Internal Medicine.
