Volunteer Opportunities
Memorial Hospital volunteers are a diverse group of retirees, students and professionals with one thing in common: each has chosen to do something meaningful with their time.

Volunteer to explore the world of healthcare, to stay active, or to get involved in your community. Whatever the reason, you will find volunteering in patient or non-patient areas to be a rewarding experience.
************SPOTLIGHT POSITION***********

Do you like working with the public?  Do you have customer service experience?  If so, we have the perfect volunteer opportunity for you.  We are looking for volunteers to assist our staff at the Information Desk. Duties would include greeting and directing visitors, answering and directing phone calls, delivering mail and other tasks.  We have weekday afternoon openings and shifts of 3-4 hours are preferred.  If interested, please fill out the online application.
Central Transportation

If you enjoy walking, this is the position for you.  Assist staff by running errands to various departments throughout the hospital.  Some wheelchair patient transport is possible.  Volunteer must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time.  It is important that candidates are able to follow directions and have good communication and people skills.  Weekday morning and afternoon positions are available.

Gift Shop
Are you looking for, or do you have, retail experience? Our gift shop needs volunteers to assist customers, ring-up sales and help maintain a clean and welcoming store.  Evening and weekend positions are available.

Emergency Department (E.D.) Volunteer
As an E.D. volunteer you are in important member of the team.  One of your roles may be to act as a liaison, transporting patients to the treatment or registration area, escorting and directing family members and bringing patients to the discharge desk.  Other opportunities are in the treatment areas, stocking cart supplies, helping to get treatment areas ready, and assisting staff with other non-clinical tasks. Day, evening and weekend opportunities are available.  Applicants must be 18+ to apply for this position.

If you like to get up early and get going this is a great opportunity for you.  Welcome and assist patients and visitors entering the main lobby.  Assist with giving directions and/or personally escorting patients and visitors to their destination, sometimes via wheelchair.  Occasionally you may be asked to help the information desk with a quick flower, newspaper or mail delivery.
This position may involve pulling charts, answering the phone, filing and other general office duties in our outpatient Pediatric Department.   Volunteer must be detail oriented and enjoy working in a fast paced environment. 

Medical Library
Volunteer needed to assist staff with several different tasks.  Previous library experience or knowledge is preferred.  Volunteer will work with various databases and enter data as well as assisting with journal inventory.   Flexible weekday morning hours are availalble.

Physical Medicine
Our physical and occupational therapists are looking for assistance with stocking supplies, maintaining treatment areas and providing general assistance with patients.  Monday and Wednesday morning and afternoon opportunities are available.

Surgical Place
Our surgical waiting area needs volunteers to act as liaisons between patients, family and medical staff. This position may also involve patient transport and some file assembly. This opportunity is ideal for the early riser, openings are available on weekdays from 7:30 am to 11:00 am.

Office and Clerical Worker
Volunteers are needed by various departments throughout the hospital to assemble packets, file, photocopy and assist with phone coverage. Positions and opportunities are available weekday mornings or afternoons and vary by department.

Once your application is received, it will be reviewed.  If we have a volunteer opportunity that matches your needs and qualifications, you will be contacted to schedule a personal interview. Once accepted into the program you will be instructed on how to receive immunization clearance by our Occupational Health Department and scheduled to attend a hospital orientation program.  Once these are complete you are ready to begin volunteering!
