The Internal Medicine Center is a primary care team committed to providing high-quality, compassionate care to adult patients. We use a team-based, "patient-centered medical home," model of medicine, which means we work closely with you and other health care professionals to ensure you get the best possible care. Our team includes internal medicine specialists, resident physicians, nurses, and behavioral health counselors. The Center is also a teaching site
for the Department of Medicine at The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
Doctors of internal medicine, called internists, are trained to diagnose and treat adults. Our internists specialize in caring for your general medical needs as well as your more serious and chronic medical problems. Your internist is the person primarily responsible for your health care and the head of your health care team. He or she provides preventive care and coordinates any specialty care you need.
Benefits of a team-based approach
- Sick visits. We reserve space each day for sick visits. If you are sick, call the office at (401) 729-2258 for the next available appointment.
- Continuity of care. We work with you to understand your health history and develop a plan of care.
- Better communication. We talk to you, not at you, in language you can understand. We want to help you understand your health issues and how you can best take care of yourself.
- Technology helps. We use electronic medical records and other technology to stay up to date and communicate with you and other members of your care team.
