Job Description: Major Responsibilities:
The Professional Development Coordinator is responsible for those activities which support and enhance professional development of Clinical Services managers and staff. These activities include, but are not limited to the assessment, planning, conduct and evaluation of orientation, continuing education and inservice education. In addition, the Professional Development coordinator is responsible for initial and ongoing assessment of Clinical Services staff competence.The Professional Development Coordinator is accountable for the dissemination of information regarding MHRI, The Joint Commission and other regulatory standards to all Clinical Services departments, and collaborates with department managers regarding methodologies to ensure compliance with these standards.Acting as a role model for staff, the Professional Development Coordinator utilizes current research and performance improvement outcomes in the development and implementation of education which affects patient care delivery.          
       
Performs related duties as required.

Hours:  8:00am - 4:30pm
Education:  BS in Nursing required.  MS in Nursing preferred.
Experience:  ACLS and BLS instructor status
License:  Current RN licensure in Rhode Island

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:  Knowledge of clinical and professional practice issues and processes.  Demonstrated educational competence in program development.  Skills in priority setting.  Excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills.  Motivaated and self-directed to develop professional accountability and autonomy.  Committment to professional develpment.

Special Qualifications:  Certification preferred.
