Related Services

Pre-travel consultation is provided to individuals and families planning international travel, particularly to developing countries.

Travel Clinic physicians provide vaccines and anti-malarial prophylaxis, as well as current information on health risks in the areas the traveler will visit. Travel Clinic patients are offered guidance on ways to avoid becoming ill while traveling and are provided a booklet written by Travel Clinic staff. Returning travelers who have become ill with a potential travel-related illness can be evaluated, after appropriate referral, in the Infectious Disease Clinic.

Appointments

Prospective travelers should call the Travel Clinic (401) 729-3610 four to six weeks before their departure date to schedule an appointment. Prior to the appointment, travelers will complete a short health questionnaire with background information on their health history, previous immunizations, medications, trip destination and activities.

Payment in full for Travel Clinic services is due on the day of the appointment. Please note that most insurance plans do not cover travel clinic services. Insurance plans will only be billed if there is advance written notification that Travel Clinic services are a covered benefit.
